Orlins Reaches Round Of 16 Singles In State Girls' Tennis Tourney

As the girls’ singles defending champion and top seed, Cheshire High School junior tennis player Alex Orlins enjoyed a fast start in the Connecticut Invitational Tournament at Conard in West Hartford. Orlins swept all 12 games of her first match against Daniel Hand sophomore Laden Bradstreet and then won 6-2, 6-1 over Greenwich sophomore Shining Sun to stay unbeaten (16-0) this spring.

On Monday, Orlins returns to the same site for her Round of 16 match against Coginchaug senior Piper Remillard at 1:15 p.m.

For Cheshire boys, junior Ben Wu (0-6, 0-6) and sophomore Brayden Stratton (1-6, 1-6) came up short in singles at Hall in West Hartford.

On Monday, junior Finn Hickey and sophomore Luke Hays travel to Hall for the Round of 32 doubles at 12 p.m. The boys will start against Fitch seniors Morgan Fisher and Nicholas Sousa.

Girls' Golf

CHS travels to Trumbull's Tashua Knolls Golf Course for the Division I Championship at 8:30 p.m.

Outdoor Track and Field

Cheshire boys and girls visit New Britain’s Willow Brook for the State Open. Field events begin at 1:30 p.m. and track races are slated to kick off at 2 p.m.
