A 2023 Cheshire High School graduate, freshman Karissa Spring helped Manhattan College (New York) softball win 8-7 over Saint Peter’s University in game one of a doubleheader on Saturday. Spring had her college-best day at the plate, going two-for-two (double, single) with two runs scored as the designated player.

In the fifth, she picked up her first RBI on a single that tied the game at 4-4. Spring ended up scoring the go-ahead run in the inning.

In the seventh, Spring came in to pitch and worked around a hit to secure her first save.

Coached by Bridget Hurlman in Division I, the Jaspers (8-30) play in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Before attending Manhattan College, Karissa Spring was a four-year member of the CHS softball program. At her college signing, she is seated next to her younger sister Kaitlin.
