Cheshire Girls' Lacrosse And Golf Teams Come Away Victorious On The Road

On Thursday, Cheshire High School girls’ lacrosse (7-5) earned a 12-6 victory at East Lyme (3-7). Sophomore goalkeeper Georgiana Sheehan made eight saves for the Rams, who held their sixth straight opponent under double-digit goals.

Sophomore Tema Caplan led the CHS offense with four goals at East Lyme, while junior Mollee Merritt (two assists) and sophomore Tylie Lawless both scored twice.

Sophomore Madeleine Tessier (assist) and juniors Allie Grove, Helen Baxter, and Quinn Clark added goals.

On May 6, Cheshire travels to play Guilford (8-3) at 6 p.m.

Girls’ Golf (5-3)

At Timberlin Golf Course in Berlin, CHS shot a 209 to split with Plainville (277) and Berlin (169). Junior Olivia Beach and senior captain Sophia DelRosso recorded a 46 and 47, respectively, for the Rams.

Sophomore Piper Dooling (54) and juniors Haley Hannan (62) and Kaitlin Cannavaro (63) rounded out the lineup.

On May 6 at Grassy Hills Country Club in Orange, Cheshire is slated to compete in the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference Invitational Tournament at 3 p.m.

Boys’ Golf (6-2)

The Rams defeated host Daniel Hand, 163-167, at Madison Country Club. Senior captain Jack Brewster and junior Jack DeJoseph both shot a 39.

Senior Josh Wildstein had a 41 and freshman Touraj Rajabipour added a 44.

On May 7, the Rams take a trip to Pine Orchards Country Club to face host Branford at 3 p.m.

Friday’s varsity schedule:

Boys’ Tennis (11-2)

Riding a five-match win streak, CHS travels to Wallingford’s Doolittle Park to face host Lyman Hall (10-5) at 3:45 p.m. On April 10, Cheshire posted a 7-0 victory in the first meeting.

Girls’ Tennis (7-2)

The Rams play Shelton (7-5) for a rematch at 3:45 p.m. On April 8, Cheshire won 6-1 on the road.

Baseball (3-10)

Cheshire faces Notre Dame-West Haven (6-7) at 4 p.m. In the first meeting on April 10, the Rams picked up a 5-1 victory at Quigley Stadium.

Boys’ Volleyball (9-3)

CHS visits Madison to play Daniel Hand (0-9) at 5 p.m.
