Cheshire Boys' Volleyball Extends Win Streak On Thursday, Golf Teams Split Matches

On Thursday, Cheshire High School boys’ volleyball (13-3) posted their fifth consecutive victory, 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-13), at Newtown (10-4).

Sophomore Bradley Fang recorded 28 assists, three aces, two digs, and a block. Junior Jacob D’Addona was the kill leader with 12 and he added two digs.

Junior tri-captain Matti Lilback (seven kills) and senior tri-captain Will Allen (four digs, four kills) both had two blocks.

Junior Gordon Johns contributed five kills, four digs, three aces, and an assist. Junior Jake Tierney recorded six digs, while senior tri-captain Connor Hayes chipped in a three kills and two digs.

On May 13, the Rams face Bunnell at 6 p.m.

Girls’ Golf (7-3)

CHS won 175-211 over Newington at Southington Country Club. Sophomore Julia Paek, who has been the medalist in all of her dual matches, led with a 37.

Senior captain Sophia DelRosso followed Paek with a 39. Junior Olivia Beach (49) and sophomore Piper Dooling (50) also scored.

Junior Kaitlin Cannavaro added a 57.

On May 13 at the same course, Cheshire competes against St. Paul Catholic and Suffield at 2:30 p.m.

Boys’ Golf (8-3)

CHS came up short of an eighth straight win, falling 162-165 to Guilford at The Farms Country Club in Wallingford. Senior captain Jack Brewster (38) and junior Jack DeJoseph (39) were separated by just a stroke.

Junior Dylan Gillotti shot a 43 and senior Jacob Berkowitz tallied a 45.

On May 14, Cheshire takes a trip to Brownson Country Club to face host Shelton at 2:45 p.m.

Friday’s varsity schedule:

Girls’ Tennis (9-3)

The Rams visit Branford for a rematch at 3:45 p.m. On April 17, Cheshire won 6-0.

Boys’ Tennis (13-3)

Cheshire heads to Fairfield University to compete against Fairfield Prep (16-0) at 3:45 p.m. In the first meeting on April 20, the Jesuits earned a 5-2 victory at CHS.

Baseball (3-13)

CHS travels to face East Haven (10-5) at 4 p.m. On April 17, EH won 4-1 on the road.

Softball (15-1)

Winners of 11 straight games, the Rams play Sheehan (13-5) at University of Connecticut’s Burrill Family Field. Start time is 5:30 p.m.

Boys’ Lacrosse (10-3)

Cheshire visits New Jersey to play Mahwah (8-5) at 6:30 p.m.
