CA Graduate Sprints Into Summer Olympics

A 2018 Cheshire Academy graduate, track runner Alexis Holmes has punched her ticket to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

In the U.S. Olympic Trials on Sunday at the University of Oregon, Holmes clocked a personal-best time of 49.78 to place third in the women’s 400-meters. On the final straight away, she sprinted past three competitors to earn her bronze medal and clinch her spot on the national contingent for the first time.

This year, the Summer Olympics are scheduled to run from July 26 to Aug. 11.

A Hamden native, Holmes competed in track, basketball, and volleyball at CA. In college, she shined in track at Pennsylvania State University and the University of Kentucky.
